The letters on this device are arranged most peculiarly, but I shall be the master of them yet! It is a most ingenius thing; I rather wish I could bring it home with me. But no matter.

Mr. Edgeworth, might I have a moment of your time? There is a matter of peculiar delicacy I wish your advice on.

That is a goal of mine, as well.

I take it you also come from a time and place where such devices do not exist?

So you are from before --

Are you from France, Madame?

rofl-you know, if Emma keeps talking to him he'll develop a...horrible...crush on her horrible_phd December 22 2008, 03:47:38 UTC
It's good to see you settling in Em Miss Woodhouse. You might not be used to typing, but at least you've figured out the shift key unlike some others here...

I fancy myself a quick study. And thank you, Dr. Horrible, for your concern. You are quite the gentleman.

Tell me, are you attending tomorrow's ball?

he will stalk you very passively and make vague allusions to you in his journal horrible_phd December 22 2008, 03:59:20 UTC
I don't think so. I mean, it's not really my kind of thing, and I don't know that many people here, and no one I've talked to is going that I know of, except you, of course.

awww dr. horrible why so creepy adorable? mis_match December 22 2008, 04:07:23 UTC
Not your kind of thing? Nonsense! Balls are entirely comprised of food, dancing, and conversation, and I have yet to meet anyone who does not enjoy at least one of those things. Besides, what better way is there to meet new people? You simply must come!

I am going, though I'm nervous about it. My friend, Mat, asked me to go with him.

My friend, Tony, is letting me borrow a gown. I thought I'd look silly in it, but Mat came to watch me try it on and he said I looked beautiful in it.

I don't mind going with you, though if you need to find one. I'm not much good at any of that stuff, though.

Wonderful! There is absolutely nothing to be nervous about. What harm has a little dancing done anyone?

And you have an escort! How marvelous. I look forward to meeting him.

I would love for you to come shopping with me. Shopping on one's own is so dull!

I've only ever been dancing once before. I'm afraid I don't know much of anything about it except that I had fun dancing with Mat.

Never really been shopping before. Not for anything other than like food at least.

I am certain you will enjoy dancing with men who are not Mat as well.

It shall be a valuable experience for you, then!

Begging your pardon of course, Miss, but you seem to be from an era somewhat removed from this one (and if I'm assuming wrongly, don't correct me or I'll look like an absolute dunce). I've been feeling keenly disadvantaged by all of the new gadgetry about, and knowing that some other new arrival is likewise disadvantaged would be rather encouraging!

You assume quite correctly, sir. I am from 1815 England, and we most certainly have nothing like many of the devices in this City. I, like you, am quite frequently bewildered.

Ah! Wonderful! I'm a good half-century ahead of you, then, but it's entirely close enough. Are you from London, by any chance?

I'm becoming less bewildered by the day, although I'll admit I've had difficulties reassembling some of these electronic devices after taking them apart! I suppose it's something a body needs to get used to.

No, I am from Surrey -- a little village called Highbury, to be precise. Are you from London?

I would not have the courage to try and take this device apart. 'Tis such a strange thing! I would not know what to do with it. Are you interested in the sciences?

I'm guessing you don't normally have communicators like this back home, huh Emma?

Oh, well if you're dropping by I can lay a few dresses out and we can see what you'd like.

Where I am from, we communicate with ink and paper, and paper is dear. This technology is completely alien to me.

That would be lovely, thank you.

Oh, well don't worry, I'm sure you'll get the hang of this with practise.

No problem, we'll see what looks best, I can even do some altering if need be.
