Most games are fun, because of the people that play it. When was the last time you played a game with friends and the time was ruined simply because the game rules sucked.

My main issue is that they basically used a cookie cutter format to make the classes. Each still has some of it's old flavor but not the same uniqueness they used to have. Options are somewhat there, but there's a clear 'best' race, line of abilities and feats to take with each class build with regard to the role you're choosing to fill in almost every case.

On top of that it, I've been playing DnD4 for 6 months or so and it has a distinct MMO feel to it... there's clear tank (defender), healer(leader) and dps (striker) roles and my group has a running joke when we're not sure how a rule should be interpreted... 'Well how does WoW do it?'

I honestly like it. I'm not gonna lie. I Also think that the slimmed down rules leaves more time to role play instead of roll dice. There is plenty versatility there, There is so many online supplements and the new abilities coming out every day. It does feel MMOy. I will give you that. but ya know, I LIKE MMOs. If I wanted to be swimming in paper all day I'd play GURPS, and I do... thats a fun game... but the new 4th ed. isn't bad at all. Just because it is easy, doesn't mean it is bad.

Don't forget, if you still like playing 3.0 or 3.5, there is nothing keeping you from doing it. There is still a whole sea of products out there, and they are being sold on the cheap!

I didn't like it. I resisted it. I said they'd taken everything that made the game, the game, out of it. It was too easy. It was too simple ( ... )
