There had been so many things wrong with his asking Winry for a date quite as soon as he had. In reality, though, Izuru found that he didn't actually care so much about the rules and norms of dating. He wanted to start seeing her again, and he had too much going on with his life to just play games and pretend that he didn't want to. He could have given her the chance to settle in... probably should have, really. But he was willing to help her as he could at the hospital, and he had missed her more than he'd been willing to say over the last four years.
He had been trying to finish in the kitchen when she arrived. He knew well that she would want to help and... well. That had never turned out well before, and it wasn't likely to change now, either. With a quick look around the kitchen to make sure nothing was going to catch aflame while he stepped out, Izuru headed to the front door. This seemed to be a common enough thing, and he stepped aside to let her in. It was almost like before. Almost, except they were older, wiser... though

Winry's brow slowly rose. Was that all he was going to say? She looked him up and down for a moment before grinning. He seemed nervous, or at least uncomfortable in some way, and it was cute. She liked the way he acted, it was different than what she'd forced herself to get used to over the last four years. As she had said at the fourth of July festival, the guys back home were the epitome of surfer guys. They weren't the studious type, they weren't focused, and Winry had missed those traits of Izuru's. Though he could still do with a little less focus on work.
She was still smiling at him when she walked inside. "Izuru." She hadn't quite intended to tease him, but she did simply stop at him name because he had done so to her. After looking around for a little bit, she turned around to face him. "I'm so surprised to see your house without textbooks everywhere." She paused for a couple seconds before heading towards the kitchen. "What are you making?" She kept herself from asking if he wanted her help, she didn't want to make him feel
