like water through pipe
this corridor is wet

the sloshing sound
the speaking, passing

slipping through by-standing consciousness

each parsed utterance,
a chance granted
to whet poetic appetite

it won't be long

sand castle

as i watch the water
reaching
creeping closer to my castle

i feel it touch my toes
the wet
the cold

the softness of sand
sliding out from underneath
creeping in between

i can't help but smile

as i watch the water
reach into my fortress

as i watch my fortress
retreat with the tide

From the moment I lay myself down
and allow the daylight stresses
to descend from my consciousness,

until the moment eyes focus
to see the sun's upper lip--
opening the horizon, one slight breath after another--

no time passes.
The darkness is a void;
it is the empty space between your lips and mine.
