What's the difference between a funeral and a wedding?

A funeral commemorates the end of only one person's life.

to inspire others into
the action
of which i want

Empathy's Ghost

The flood of guilt
in image form
has drown the synapses
that sense it.

It swishes round inside of us
wistful to become embodied.
But the multitude of choices
is decision's downfall
as, in our embodiment,
empathy's dead dream becomes
apathy's reality.

Balances

If we obey
Are we to say our duties
Have been fulfilled?
Can we allege that checks on
Those in power should not proceed
Because they are not red
Or white
Or blue

Despite the founders' advice

Should we trust that our protection
Is the goal?
Or trust that our forefathers
Knew better than those
Whom we may
Have trusted
Most recently?

a limb

it's best described as missing
or lacking feeling, lost
she is the phantom twitching
of unforgotten thought

with her i walk to duties
not mild or meek or free
this ship i sail, though, losing
her footing in this sea

from underneath me moments
fall, crashing with the sway
her absence swells to laments
this pirate's failed to say

depressed words

longfellow's miscarried inspiration
guided his sad greatness

as did plath's
and too many others to name
by name

so the spirit inspires
that sadness
be conveyed
succinctly

serial sufferer

a broken nail
a near deadline
a bill past-due

as much
     as you manage
          to offer
               to help

she's a serial sufferer

the only cure for
today's pain's tomorrow's
