I've pretty much decided to name my girls Cinder and Tanuki. Cinder is grey, the colour of fine ash, and is a little aloof, and while she was the more boisterous of the pair she seems to be the most stayed at the moment. Tanuki (who will probably get called Nuki most of the time) has unbelieveably soft fur, and is terribly affectionate combined ( Read more... )

Welcome Cinder and Nuki! Which sounds an awful lot like I'm declaring the end of the world... :)
If they're purring, they're pretty happy with the situation. Once they've determined that this place is MINE! and the people are MINE! they'll come out and explore more of their kingdom.

The first week I had Jumble he spent underneath a bookcase. Jumble had been a feral kitten who had been declared un-rehomable and they said to put him down. Jumble wasn't feral, he was simply terrified. After a short while he figured out the not underneath the bookcase meant food and hugs, and was much better.

My Balthazar was like that but he spent the first several days jammed under my bed. Which left me terrified to go to sleep just in case the bed collapsed or something equally ridiculous happened.

Peri hid under a blanket in the shower cabinet of the bathroom for the first 3 days, she came out eventually.
