In which I review and picspam the new Skins episode - Thomas

Jan 30, 2010 02:50

So... Skins is back. I'm not sure what to think. All of the storylines of the second generation feel forced, but I still do like most of the characters. I decided to watch the ep anyhow, and get myself through by reviewing it in a rather snarky manner. If you disagree with my criticism, please feel free to not read, but don't bitch at me about my ( Read more... )

Great entry! Can I just say I feel the exact same way you do? I had seen two episodes of s3 before deciding to watch the show from the beginning. I didnt think I'd like generation 1 but it took all of two episodes, if that, for me to love them all. But all through s3 I just kept telling myself to give it more time. Untill the finale came, and I realized I still didnt love them.

I miss the sense of friendship this show used to have. Everyone sleeps with everyone and hardly anyone has lasting relationships.

I just cant give Cook the kind of love everyone else on LJ seems to. I find him rather annoying, to be honest. Is he just going to fuck off for the remaining time he has left on the show or are they going to give us some character development? Tony said in 1x08 that he's tired of everyone seeing him as a wanker and wanted to change and in the finale, he started making strides to do just that.

I think I may be compairing too much. But it's hard not to, IMO

I'm with you, I can't warm up to Cook, Thomas and JJ. The rest of the cast I love, but they're no Cassie or Tony, not really.

Yeah, I think Cook has a lot of potential, but the writers have gotten lazy. They just make everyone sleep with everyone and let that create the drama rather than actually coming up with actual storylines that give the actors actual material to work with. It always struck me as weird in s3 that everyone was just friends right off the bat with no prior knowledge of most of the "group" I mean... since when did Effy just randomly decide to have friends? I know the guys were friends, and the twins knew Naomi, but everyone coming together just seemed SO constructed.

I do really miss the friendships in the first two seasons. That was some of the best part of the show. And I miss how funny it used to be! They could be in the middle of breaking my heart, but they would always make me laugh anyhow. Now they don't break my heart or make me laugh, and they've lost the magic of what Skins was.

Join the club. ;) I complain incessantly. It gives me something to do. And pretending things are all fine and jolly isn't any fun.

Amazing recap! This episdoe reminded me why I love Panda, Emily, Freddie, Effy, but don't care about Thomas. He's just not part of the group, except for being Pandoras boyfriend. And she felt very guilty for sleeping with Cook, when she thought, she was never going to see him again, whereas he justifies it?
Still weird that the group seems to hate him, but nobody blamed her. Shows again that they are her friends, not his.

Btw, congratulation for your header, it's one of the best I've ever seen!

actually, pandora didn't just sleep with cook once. she slept with him multiple times, even after thomas came back. i agree that she felt guilty though. i'm just not sure why she didn't cut off the relationship right away after the first time. not sure what was running through her head.

Thanks! :) I made it as a wallpaper, but I liked it so much that I had to use it as a header too.

And yep, Thomas just isn't a believable part of the group. *shakes head* They gave him what, five scenes with people other than Panda last season? And they expect us to believe that everyone cares about him?

i really enjoyed this recap and ia with a lot of it. i hope you continue for the next eps! and the pretty caps helped.

i felt pretty bad for thomas during this ep. his life went to shit in an instance.
i've said this before, but i kind of understand thomas's infidelity with pretty singing girl aka andréa. but whatever the reason, cheating is fucked up and unfair. he has no excuse.
and thomas definitely still has issues about pandora's ongoing relationship with cook last year. "starting over" yeah right lmao. he seems resentful and i think he felt much less guilty because pandora did it first.

i'm intrigued to see where they continue to take the show. i have mixed feelings about this entire stalker storyline so far.

Glad you liked the review. :)

I don't like that he said it was fine to start over and they really seemed to reconnect, and he's still throwing it in her face like that. It's not fair to her. If he were still pissed and wanted to end it, he should have... rather than stringing her along and hurting her more. *shrugs*

THANK YOU!
I freakin' love you for not being on board with these crap characters they have now!
I agree with you on everything, especially Effy. I loved her before all this love triangle crap happened.

Thank you for having the balls to say this

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it! :) If there's a reason to complain, I generally have no problem doing so. I actually wrote an entire essay for my comp class last year about how much Bones sucks now. I may or may not be too obsessed with tv.

I agree, this doesn't seem the most encouraging start, but I still think it was better than most everything last season,.
