Exploding Salamandars

Have you ever thought- I'm going to die- why am I not dead? That was me, Saturday afternoon. I was cooking a pre-conquistodor lunch for 80 people, in a kitchen that I had never used before. And I now know how to light the salamandar at the mason's hall- aparenlty it steals facial hair from masons regularly. I told my students- this is why you always have to wear your hair back in lab, else you'll look like me!

That sounds pretty damn scary. I have done that on a much smaller scale myself...no good. Your hair looks cute now, and the feast was sooooo delicious.

And yes, quite disconcerting. However, after I realized missauria was not actually on fire, and the only long term harm was a haircut (and a short term sore hand), it was a quite a relief.

It was a solid 2 days of work, but it seemed to pay off quite well for those preparing and for those enjoying the feast.
