Yay College and WHAT THE HELL?!
Wow! Shayla already got accepted to 2 of the colleges that she applied to. I had no idea that schools would send them out so early. I thought that they waited until all the financial aid (FAFSA) stuff was processed. Sad stuff, Sick stuff, and Money Stuff
Today I'm feeling a bit fragile. A local girl, age 16 was killed in a car accident yesterday morning and it's making me a bit emotional. The whole idea of the randomness of tragedy is just plain scary. She was friends with some of Shayla's friends, but Shayla didn't really know her. Changes This Year?
There's lots of stuff coming up for this year. Shayla is going to graduate from high school, and is planning on going to college. Applications are due soon. She doesn't have a school that she really wants to go to, but is applying to probably 5 or 6. She really wants to live in the dorm where ever she goes so it'll be interesting having both ( Read more... ) -

Blizzard 2013
Today there is a ginormous blizzard going on. Here in New England we are used to weather like this, but this one is supposed to be especially bad. They are talking "Blizzard of '78" bad, which is an epic storm that closed down schools for 3 weeks back when I was 11 years old. Baby, Taxes, Snow and broken stuff
My sister is still pregnant. She's due February 14th, so that isn't surprising, but it feels like I'm on semi-alert all the time. I'm supposed to be there at the birth at her house. I hope it all goes smoothly when I do get the call ( Read more... ) -
Weather Work and Money (and lack of it)
It's been a very cold week at work. I've been bundled up like the Michelin Man and have been ok. Mostly just my fingers, nose, cheeks and toes are cold while I'm out there (hey that rhymes! lol) I love how the news keeps going on and on telling people to keep their pets indoors...What about the Letter Carriers?! Postal Contract Finalized
Well our contract expired November of 2011, and the USPS and the NALC (our union, the National Association of Letter Carriers) couldn't come to an agreement, so it went to arbitration last August 2012. The Arbitrators finally came to a decision on Jan 10, 2013 ( Read more... ) -

I just met a customer who started off yelling about his mail and I got defensive. But as he explained (yelled about) the problem he started to cry and told me he was trying to get to the hospital because his 9 year old son had been hit by a car and a cab wasn't coming for another 20 minutes.
