Pesky adhesive hooks

I managed to remove a sizeable chunk of the cement wall and a tile from my bathroom when trying to remove such hooks. I guess they weren't even supposed to come off easy.
I remember reading some home owner tips section (bit like what Martha Stewart tells) that those hooks/blutac/tape/whatever should come off easily with some common liquid but I can't remember which liquid it was :(
