Tonight we had Quail and Ale for dinner.

The Quail: bought at the local grocery store, but it came from here: Manchester Farms. Other than being really really small, it was quite tasty. Not enough meat on it (we had 2 each), but still good. Once I stopped thinking about how cute Quail are...

Today was fun. Our friend Shelley (dolphin_mama) and her daughter Vikki were out here for a long weekend, and we got to show them around "our" Miami. We took them to the Everglades National Park, where not only did we get to see a lot of alligators and birds, it apparently was gator mating season. The "grunting" was so loud it was almost scary. so Tropical Storm Ernesto was less eventful than we would've liked (yes, we are weird). we did lose power around 3am but i think it was only for a few hours before it came back on (so it DOESN'T COUNT!). there has been a lot of rain and wind since last night, but neither were in any large quantities. it's still rainy now, in fact. so not enough ( Read more... )

okay, that was the LEAST exciting storm ever. Chris and I even went to the bay to watch a squall come in, which was pretty cool. but then it rained with a slight wind. and now nothing. and the radar doesn't show much else expected here. what a waste. i'm missing a day and a half of work for this? laaaaaaaaaame.

my work sent everyone home at Noon and is closed all day tomorrow. hooray for time off! boo for not getting paid for it!

our hurricane prep consisted of trimming the palm fronds in the front yard and getting a big bottle of tequila. =)
