Many student’s mornings will begin much more smoothly if they do not have the stress of finding an outfit, and students do not need any extra stress in today’s world. Uniforms will clearly allow students to save time in their morning routine, which will lead to a better high school experience all around.
"student's" should be "students'" (apostrophe after the s, not before. You don't know me, but I just happened to come across your entry and totally agree with you. Right on! I think uniforms are a great idea, and had we had uniforms in my high school (back in the day when I was in high school) it would have saved me hours of time and frustration of not being able to decide what to wear. Good luck!
"Once one looks past the myths that lye behind uniforms, they will see that uniforms are actually a very good thing for today’s student." i believe lye should be lie.
and also, you mentioned a lot about how kids would save money by not having to worry about buying trendy clothes. but there are a lot of people who shop only at thrift stores and get hand-me-downs. make sure you remember that some kids can't afford uniforms. maybe suggest ways to compensate for that (i.e. fundraising, uniforms purchased by district for students who can't afford, etc.). this is the reason my school has yet to go to uniforms. the movement has a lot of support, but not enough money since there are so many kids who can't afford uniforms.
*one change....some additions perhaps to enchance it i.e. - they create a steril environment that focuses on education - although it is an unnessessary loss of civil liberty, it is balanced by the economic and social equality (less money and less inclined to form cliques at school)
Hey, this is Mackenzie... I just wwanted to say that I completely agree and that your letter is wonderful. These dress codes are insane. Plus, uniforms can be really cute. =] Best of luck!
