Not meant to be offensive, but...

I'm been rethinking what my mom said to me earlier in the day and I know she didn't mean it to be mean or offensive... but the more it rolls over in my head, the more it kind of upsets me and I'm not sure what my response should be ( Read more... )

seriously fuck that. i don't even want kids, but i feel super strongly about breast feeding. it makes sense to mix her first solids w/breast milk too. you mix a kitten or puppy's food with milk or water to make it softer and more palatable.

i think your mom is being a stuck up prude. my mom is the same way. screw her and props to you for doing what is right for you and your daughter.

I don't know if my mom is stuck up. I'm never fully sure but sometimes I feel like she might be jealous since she didn't nurse neither my sister or myself. Other times I think she just dosen't get it... she's just uninformed.

thanks for the support though.

maybe she just doesn't like green beans! when I started my shorty on "solids" I started with fruit, apples, pears, etc. just seemed more appetizing than pureed veggies. bananas were a favourite of his until recently. although, if you are using store packaged baby food, I would recommend not giving the bananas from the jar. the addition of ascorbic acid for preservative use makes them takes rather gross. {I tasted everything I gave him} go straight to the source, make sure they are nice and ripe {not to the going brown point} and mash them up good. just be prepared to be seeing them again in a few hours! and full of little black specks from the seeds ( ... )

Yeah I started with fruit too. She's had bananas, pears, apples, kiwi... she had a weird reaction to blueberries. She has had avocado too. I just lately have felt that she really needs some vegetables in her life. I don't want her to only like sweet foods i.e. fruits. So I really want to add some veggies to her diet.

We haven't been doing the baby foods, really this is the first thing I mashed up for her because she tried chewing on a plain green bean and gumming it just wasn't really getting anywhere... so I thought I should blend it up. A family friend had the idea to mix it with applesauce, and I think she was good with it then, helped sweeten it without having to add sugar or anything.

I really want to avoid the stubbornness of food, especially since I have always been such a picky eater, I don't want that for her.. I always felt like it sucked.

If it's any help... I know that I wouldn't eat certain foods even as young as that and I was a breast milk kid until one year. Babies have tastes already too, a lot of introducing solids is just trial and error. Not that I am an expert or anything, but those have been my observations with babies.

So I know I'm ridiculously late to this post and you've probably got M being a green bean champ, the one thing I've learned with solids and Genna is just keep at it and try again every few days. For one, they learn that said food is not going away because they make icky face and two, their tastes really do change so much so frequently. Currently, G does all veggies and most fruits (although we keep her away from allergens like strawberries, of course). It's meat and cheese she has no use for...:sigh:
