So initially I planned to post in depth menaing of life look at my intelectualism reviews of books, until I realised it would take me all night to do that. So instead, here's a list of stuff I've read recently (these last two months or so) and short bursts of reaction.

Re FioS YAY now I don't feel so bad reading through these comments. I'm not heartless, just old XD Also, I didn't know the author did crash course in history on youtube. I like those too!

I'll def read the divergent trashtalk once i work up the energy to finish the book which looks ridiculious from all accounts.
Yeah, i felt the same way with FioS but the narration in addition to the set up really put me off. I dont even know if JG was going for us feeling bad for the kids or treating them like normal or what. On the whole it just left me feeling nothing which confirmed that I'm either dead inside or have higher expectation from bestsellers than expected.
Yay! Another Cormeron fan! I hear you on the boss/secretary thing, which is why I'm eternally grateful for the slow pace. Develop friendship/trust first before anyone jumps into bed with anyone! Its a shame your student doesn't like fantasy. But you were reading GoT a while back right? How did that turn out?
Still looking forwards to our Bollywood night whenever you have time. I hope things at work are getting better for you.

No matter the pace or dedication of your students, i still count it as a plus that reading books is part of work. That's the dream! That's also why i loved teaching so much. I had to quit because "real job" was demanding too much of my time (partly why i've been so bleh recently).
I totally understand being unavailable, and there's no rush. This weekend sounds great. I haven't watched Hum Tum in a while too so it would be nice to rewatch it. :-)

I have no desire to read TFiOS because treacly/sappy teen fiction is not really my thing, and I don't really recall reading this sort of stuff in the days of yore when I was a teen. Hallmark movies are about my limit and those are only 2 hours, max. Also, probably won't be reading Divergent, either. I have not even read the Hunger Games, or even seen any of the movies. I am also "meh" about dystopias and even more "meh" about TEEN dystopias. Why yes, I AM a cranky old person. XD
Haven't read any of JKR's Galbraith books, but they are on my list (almost read Cuckoo earlier this month, actually). I'm probably not gonna try Casual Vacancy, just because it sounds depressing, tbh. I need something to go with depressing fiction, and at least a mystery perks it up a bit, imo. Otherwise it's just too much like real life, haha.
And that anti-list video was funny, thanks for sharing it!

I wouldn't recommend Casual Vacancy to anyone because I personally found it both droll and depressing. But do give the Galbraith novels a try, you might be pleasantly surprised. :)
KoA comes up with lots of funny stuff, they've done a couple of GoT skits too if you're interested.
