I heard this song, by Jose Gonzalez, on the Vanderbilt radio station yesterday. As I listened it occurred to me that it would make good soundtrack music for Child of God, an early Cormac McCarthy novel. I'm a bit sensitive to poorly constructed language. I'm no linguo-prude (I made that word up), but the state of the language lately has me more responsive than usual. My friends; people - can we please upgrade our command of our language? I read articles and blogs that start with, "So" and "Well". Couple that with the misplaced modifiers, dangling participles, and errors in subject and verb agreement and we have college writing skills today that are the equivalent of sixth graders not so long ago ( Read more... )
