I haven't posted in a while so I thought I'd fill you all in on my fascinating life. Well, it's actually not so fascinating and I'm not sure why anyone's all that into reading about it but I felt guilty when I saw the Livejournal add on the screen and Lord of the Rings (yeah, and add...at the movies, even...) so here I am, posting ( Read more... )

Greatest Trilogy Ever... darthprincip December 23 2003, 00:49:48 UTC
Now, I may be post-orgasmic here, but I truly think LOTR is the best fantasy/sci-fi stuff out there period. I love the original Star Wars trilogy, but LOTR has so much heart, characterization, and detail that it surpasses anything Lucas made. While Star Wars (esp. episodes 1&2, and I LIKED 2 a lot) feel like marketing + "event", the LOTR movies feel like they were made by people who love what they are doing. Yeah, there are toys for LOTR, but the marketing isn't ridiculous and the extras on the extended version point to an incredible assemblage of talents. It's wow.

I'll second that. I'm with you on that opinion...though I have the embarrassing admission that I also LOVED the Matrix trilogy (even the last installment).

Matrix 3 was not bad. My chief issue with it was that Martix 2 was absolutely and completely unnecessary and the first 30-45 minutes of Revolutions was spent resolving annoying or pointless plotlines. I mean really, I think Monica Belluci is superhot, but I think the series would have been fine without her character or the Frenchy. All they did was add obstacles to an ill-defined quest. I think Belluci was just there to sell tickets to horny teenage boys. Having said that, the freeway scene is (of course) pretty neat; I would have sacrificed it, however, to save three hours of my life ( ... )

...if they were made by computers with artifical intelligence. Pretty movies, but no soul.

Can't say I completely agree with you about this point, but it was very well made. I laughed my ass off.
