Are you asking why I chose chain stitch or questioning if I'm crazy for doing chain stitch?

why chain stitch? blackwork is usually holbein... right? (also i hate chain stitch, but that's not the point.)

Blackwork is a variety of stitches. Holbein/double running and stem stitch are probably the most common that we have extant examples, but split and stem stitch are viable as well.

This is lovely...I look forward to seeing the entire piece!

How did you make the transfer? That's always the frustrating part for me...

The pattern is #9 Lisette from attack_laurel. The linen I have is lightweight and see-through, so I just taped it to the patten and traced it with a ballpoint pen.

I keep debating about whether or not I will. I think it mostly depend on how I feel about things once the outline is done.

Mmm-hmm. There are so many details in the outline itself, could well be that "less" will be "more"!
