Would you want to marry a guy with mystery scars and amnesia, no matter how hot he is?
Not to mention the tattoo: "Sin. When you gonna learn?" Though maybe she doesn't read English. Asuka: "What's the writing on it say?" Him: "Uhm, heh."
I'm sure she's on payroll. A woman who looks kind of like Asuka who's named Asuka just happens to be Youji's nurse? Pull the other one, Mamoru, it has bells on it.
I don't know about Rex. I don't get any affection on his side toward her. Meanwhile, he often did a "kun" for the members of his team: Aya-kun, Youji-kun....
I only saw the Hong Kong version with the subtitles of WTF, but my impression was that Mamoru brought Sena in specifically because the kid was such a reckless moron that his obvious mucking about would draw out his mother for Weiß.
Maybe he just did that tattoo with permanent marker.
I know. I can't get the Rex thing at all! Maybe no honorifics = underlings? (Hiro -kuns Ando but Ando doesn't kun Hiro that I've noticed and what does THAT mean, O Japan I am confused)
Oh, yeah, Mamoru says as much in the official subs too. "Aya-kun will approve of me waving him around like human bait." Uh-huh.
I always wondered how all his scars went over with chicks he picked up.
I just don't know!
Me: "...have you talked to Aya-kun in person lately?" Yeah, Aya once let Sakura be recaptured specifically so he could follow the homing beacon on her, but he seemed to have come closer to being the human version of Gamera in more recent episodes. (What is it with kids loving him?)
HAHAHA THE KIDNEY LINE OMG. I saw that the first time and choked, pretty much, but I thought it might have been a consequence of the, um, 'special' subtitles. XDDD
I find it interesting that he's "Mamoru-sama" to Rex. I can't remember what Grandfather is addressed as, but once Mamoru takes over, it's odd he doesn't get to be "Takatori-san/-sama". (I mean, Reiji is "Takatori-san" to most people, isn't he? And he was the fecking Prime Minister!)
I think Mamoru's lack of honorific is a way of underlining her lower status - check out how incredibly angry he is in the sequence where she and another Takatori minion hold him back from seeing Saijou, and compare Omi's habit of using honorifics with everyone. As Omi, a lack of honorific seems to occur only when he's very stressed (including the whole "I kissed my sister/whoops she's dead" scene), or someone is clearly an enemy. Mamoru has broken the habit of a lifetime with Rex. It has to mean something.
I'm not sure if Manx ever calls Shuiichi anything! She calls him "Persia", I think, when talking about him, but I don't know what she says when talking to him. I must check! she says "Omi" without any honorific, but that seems to be because she's close to him? Involved with his upbringing, perhaps?
As Mamoru, he seems more distant with Rex than he was as Omi with Manx, for whatever reason. He doesn't tell her about Nagi killing the assassin and never talks to her about anything other than business she already seems to know about. Hmmm.
As I recall, the drama CDs make it clear that Manx raised him as much as anyone did really, wolves would probably have done a better job. And I'm not sure she does either, aside from addressing him as "Persia" when talking to other people.
He's very closed with her. But of course, he's seen two of her predecessors killed by then.
Re: Laptop: Given what they call computer code in Kapital, yes, he does. Omi, making the computer beep endlessly is really pretty unlikely to help, even if it is funny.
Re: drama CDs: clearly. Don't you realize that Koyasu's self-insert character self-insert is worthy of endless insane backstory?

I think my subtitles are offical. They're still...special, mind you.

Oh, I'd forgotten she was one of the ones holding him back! A 'cut,' then, in the old-fashioned sense?

...of course. How do I forget these things?

Because your brain protectively erases them to maintain your last remaining scraps of sanity.

...that would explain a lot.
