I've been playing around with this a while.

This may or may not turn into a series of related mini-fics, set very loosely in the Side B-verse.

He really can kick ass and take names.

Yes, yes he can. I remember reading a ficlet recently where one of his business meetings was interrupted, and he killed all four attackers with objects at hand. Which, y'know, one would EXPECT from someone who was trained as an assassin before puberty.

Although I'm not completely sure he's that resourceful, I'm still wondering why you didn't link me.

This is a chilling look at Mamoru from one who couldn't know any better, and a suggestion why Weiss and Kritker do manage to best (arrogant) superpowered whatsits frequently. The poisoning reminds me a touch of The Princess Bride, but not in anyway less effective for that. Like the narrator, one doesn't see it coming, though the clues are there when one goes back.

I wonder if Nagi will appreciate it.

Pride goeth before, and all that. And I think Rosencruez made a practice of underestimating people-- that's why they got owned so effectively by Schwarz. And yeah, it was a bit of a Bride ripoff. I thought about doing radiation poisoning but it wasn't immediate enough.

Mamoru's hoping Nagi never finds out.

Oh, awesome. Mamoru is so creepy and scary when he puts his mind to it. I love that he did it on Nagi's behalf, too. Love this.

And yes, I too always think of The Princess Bride whenever poisoned wine comes up. XD

I suspect Nagi would be mortified if he knew Mamoru had noticed. Thank you!

I know.

Oh, Mamoru. So heartlessly compassionate with those he likes. Not a child, indeed.

And I really liked seeing an outside view of him, and Christian's speculations on how photography needed to play tricks to make him seem more substantial!

Poster child for growing up too fast.

He's tiny!

Beautifully done. Your Mamoru's so sinister and devious, with all the anger of his motivations intact but not allowed to get in the way of his planning. I love the way he plays roles, and is so convincing in all of them.

Re-watching that bit at the end-- where he tells off Knight-- just made me feel like this part was ready to roll. Thanks so much.
