Rasputin doesn't seem to understand that when he looks out the back door and sees a rainy, dreary day, it's actually going to be like that when he gets outside. He meowed at the back door, and even though I explained to him that it was cold and wet outside, he persisted in his meowing. So I relented and we ventured out. Stubbornness kept us out ( Read more... )

I'd go see the new Friday the 13th again! I really did like the start of it. The actors, bleh. The nudity was forced. I miss the old Jason, but maybe I am just biased because I grew up watching and worshiping the originals.

And I love the cat named Rasputin. That is awesome. Does he have crazy big cat eyes that can see my soul? Or does he just have a really long beard?

I think the fact that you live in Minnesota and I live in Texas is an impediment to our going to see the new Friday the 13th again. I know, I'm such a downer ( ... )

The whole "I live in Texas and you live in Minnesota" thing is just an excuse. ;) I thought we lived in a very global world of teleporters. Damn. There go my views of reality for the 87987th time this week.

The girl being held hostage was a good idea up until I saw the tripwires. That was the end of that rope for me. Jason wasn't like that.
No, haha, we don't watch it for gritty realism. I guess that if we like a series and someone changes it a bit here and there, we are bound to get a little irked. Again, our sense of "reality" has been thrown off.

If you have a cat that can control hemophilia you could make a lot of money. Start a website. Get followers. Control their hemophilia. Make millions. All off of your kitty cat.

I want to name my cats Franz and Aleister.

I wish there were teleporters! It would make things so much easier...

Yeah, the movie creators basically said they wanted to explain how someone could survive undetected for so long (the underground lair) and always seem to know where his victims are (the tripwires). And while that's all plausible, I agree with you -- we fans of the previous movies already have our mental picture of who Jason is and how he operates, and it throws us when they change that on us. But I guess they did try to be clear that this was a reimagining of the series, not just the next movie in the series.

I wouldn't exploit my poor cat like that! Besides, that would probably interfere with his sleep schedule.

Franz and Aleister? Bardon and Crowley?

I have a difficult time letting go of reality enough to enjoy horror movies. They just tend to annoy and frustrate me. I think it's the same reason that religion, or any other superstition, can bother me.

Our plans are to catch the free Kung Fu movie at Alamo village tonight at midnight. It was superenjoyable the last time we went. Somehow men doing backflips and not breaking bones as their opponents' chi is released upon them does not annoy and frustrate me. go figure! :) If you feel like a 15 year reunion, feel free to join the fun! my cell # is in my fb profile.

oh- and I totally know the cat meowing to go outside on a rainy day, only I'm not as nice and don't join mine in the backyard while she figures out it's not the best day for doing outside catthings.

I am a little concerned that you compare horror movies to religion. :) I agree I'm not able to suspend my disbelief for my entire life when it comes to matters that have a pervasive affect on my existence. On the other hand, I can suspend my disbelief for 90 minutes for the purposes of entertainment. :)

I'll think about the kung fu movie. Could be fun!

Rasputin is my only cat who is allowed outside, and he isn't allowed out there unsupervised. I don't trust him enough to not do something dumb. I am an overprotective cat parent!

I am a big proponent of the "learn how to be happy by/with yourself before you try being happy with other people" mantra. I have probably said it to you and everyone else I know about a million times. I think people need to be independently happy; you can't rely on someone else or your relationship to *make* you happy.

That, and live every week like it's sturgeon week. Equally important.

Yeah. And the thing is, I'm quite able to entertain myself and keep myself happy. But there's always a voice in the back of my head, when I am single, saying "You need to be working on meeting someone! You don't want to die alone!"

It reminds me of a line from High Fidelity by Nick Hornby. "Only people of a certain disposition are frightened of being alone for the rest of their lives at twenty-six".

So I just remind myself that plenty of people (my father included) pair up later in life. Although perhaps what I really should remind myself of is that it doesn't matter if you pair up or not. That's a tougher sell, though!

Rasputin has the sturgeon week thing down. Me -- not so much.
