This is NOT a review, this is a PETITION...

On 27th September, Dr Mindbender82 posted an entry to the Poetry Community entitled "Christ is on the TV"...for those of you who havent seen it I say have a look, oh and be warned about its content, because what Dr Mindbender doesn't say beforehand is that he has included pornographic images as part of it ( Read more... )

i think what's always important when you come up against someone is to not introduce every past issue you've had into the conversational process. it's important to focus on the issue at hand, in this case, that mitch had a legitimate concern about the validity of posting explicit material onto an open forum without affording anyone the opportunity to choose not to view it ( ... )

HI Mindbender... I sure am glad that Maxine weighed in she has given you excellent support while suggesting that you need to be a little more discrete in an overheated environment. I am sure your work will win through in the end but you need to be a little more aware of how people can be distressed and alienated by things that shock...

You know what champ all you've done since I put up what I thought is go on a personal attack about me and my short sightedness and the fact that I am somehow unenlightened because I can't see the artistic merit in your work...and after at no point did I say I didn't find it quite ingenious and noteworthy...my problem was simply that my computer is in the middle of a room in the middle of my house, and when images like that pop up on a common community board (and thus my friends page), artistic merit or not they are in plain sight of my twelve year old little sister, who doesn't deserve to be subjected to such imagery, and I won't accept that she has to be simply because you or anyone is expressing yourself ( ... )

just going on something you've said james; mitchs so called point wasnt giving people a choice of whether they wanted to be in the debate or not; his words were: "IF YOU ARE READING THIS PICK A SIDE, EITHER STAND WITH ME OR AGAINST ME - IF YOU'RE OF THE OPINION SMUT SHOULD BE BROADCAST ON LIVE JOURNAL THEN SAY SO, IF YOU'RE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR IT, JOIN THE CLUB ( ... )

Sense a bit of hostility there Jenna,I don't quite see why. If you have a look at any of my posts I have never told anyone what to do, nor have I discounted anyone elses view. All I said was that the situation had otherwise been neutralised and there was no need for further provocation.

As far as Mitch's point, right or wrong, or however it is worded, it is made in his own live journal, people read it by choice, people participated in the discussion by choice.

My comment about 'saying things to his face' was more centred on the patronising 'lad' at the end. Besides, I think we all know Mitch has no problem facing problems head on.

I don't know where I got you off side jenna but seriously, the intention of my post wasn't to piss any body off.

All I can say Mitch is Dr Mindbender has won. He's got somebody's attention: yours specifically. Don't you realise you've just made him semi-famous. The word will spread, that's what he wants. Soon everybody will be tuning into Dr Mindbender's journal. Hell, why not. Being quite objective I think he has the best damn journal: in fact he's a man full of insights, and I've spent time talking to him, I know him ( ... )

Don't agree mate. As I've said all along I reckon Mindbender's work is quite imaginative and worthy of commendation, and I encourage people to see it because he deserves an audience after the effort he went to to create it.

My point all along has been simply that I didn't want those images appearing on my screen (for reasons I made quite clear) when I could do nothing about it - they no longer do.

That's what I wanted, that's what I got. I don't hold a grudge against Mindbender's art, I hold a grudge at the sarcastic and insulting lengths he went to in trying to degrade me because I somehow see things differently to him. Judge that for character.

Game Over.

Mitch, again you show a deep comittment to the cause you feel is correct and true. I hope people take your comment for what it is and not go into various analyses of the topic.Obviously not many people did and I was shocked at reading some of the responses, not that I don't think people should be free in their opinions and art should be for expressing oneself, but I have to say it is a pethetic state of affairs that I read some people's comments on how its ok for pure smut and very distasteful 'art' to be called 'literature ( ... )
