I have no opinion on the whole free tibet. (Just that it's really funny to see monks being violent... It goes against them)

China has only recently opened its doors to the Global World and you honestly can't expect it to make its leaps into Democracy in the sheer 30 years that took the Western world, thousands.

Unfortunately the Western world tends to forget that not everyone does things in the same way and at the same time. I agree with chu - well said.
