I went to my orientation tonight and it was SO boring. I hate those things. Every company says the same crap, anyway. We all got our schedules for the rest of the week too. I'm working like, 3 days, 7 hours each day. LAME! And guess who called me today?! BATH & BODY WORKS! And when I said that I was free and not in school they were like, ( Read more... )

If it's too nosy of me, you don't have to answer, but how much per hour are you making at each place? I keep thinking I need some part-time job (I really wanted an office job [like assistant], but I can't find any...) since at times my freelancing runs a bit dry... But then I think of working for like $7 an hour 20 hours a week... That's not much money at all.. ;-; (I make so much more freelancing, but it's not consistent enough!)

Well, I wouldn't necessarily be paid as much as you at Target since I have no retail experience, too.

I get $8 at Target and $8.25 at B&BW. You should really think of getting a part time job since your freelance work is inconsistent. I mean, yeah it's not the best pay, but it's better than not getting anything for weeks at a time. Plus it will get you out of the house and help you get used to dealing with people.

Nuu. ;-; I'm so picky and spoiled by the fact that thinking that making less than $10 an hour isn't worth it. I can make $15-40 an hour freelancing easily, but that means moot if I don't have consistent work! Cameron pointed out that most part-time retail jobs are only like 12 hours a week during most of the year anyway... Which would mean even way less money per week, but I actually prefer that, I think. At that pay rate, I'd rather give them less of my time than work for slightly more money. ;-; So maybe I should look into retail and hope I only work like 12 hours a week, and keep up the freelancing. ;-; And why is it that every job (besides office jobs, which I want but can't find) requires you to stand for hours on end? It makes me weak to stand for more than an hour... -_-

It IS worth it! 'Cause you'll have the $15-40 you make freelancing PLUS the $7-8 you make at your part time job. So you'll have extra money! Just think of places you like shopping at...you like their products, their service, their facilities...and apply there. That way you have no problem backing up the things you are selling. Also it helps to look for smaller places, like coffee shops or cafes. They will have small staffs and won't be overcrowded with customers. They'll probably have shorter business hours, too, so you won't have to worry about working like, 9 hour days or something. Just keep that kind of thing in mind.
