Social Security

The news today was glum. I plan to draw as a widow
next year, then in 6 years on my own record. Now,
will there be social security? If not, I will be
in the street starving. Will the government not
leave those of us in this age group and older
stranded or do you think they will rectify so
that we won't be destitute. I'm freaked. Any

I personally find the American social security and healthcare system morally repugnant - not that the UK's is perfect by any means, but at least we have the CONCEPT of free care for vulnerable people. It makes me mad. Like Seraphim says, though, 11 years is a long time away, and there are opportunities for political solutions.

Plus hopefully you guys will end up with a Democrat president this time around ;)
