Ours always was there the whole time. But my mom has been tour guide for a creche exhibit at the abbey where she docents all year, and one of the things they learned is that in some places, if there's a baby in the manger before Christmas, you're allowed to steal it!

We always left the baby in but among other people I know it seems like it was half and half.

My mom bought it for me and then made a set for herself out of Sculpy. I can't wait to see how it turned out.

i had never heard of waiting to put out the baby jesus until the other night when my friend (i believe her mother is a methodist minister) said that one year she hid jesus so they could wait until christmas eve. unfortunately she hid him *too* well and it wasn't until the next spring that he was found. hee!
