Ed and I were talking about nativity scenes a few weeks ago. I fondly recalled carefully setting everything up, and then mentioned something about not putting the baby Jesus out until late Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. Ours always was there the whole time. But my mom has been tour guide for a creche exhibit at the abbey where she docents all year, and one of the things they learned is that in some places, if there's a baby in the manger before Christmas, you're allowed to steal it!

We always left the baby in but among other people I know it seems like it was half and half.

That smore nativity is so damn funny.

My mom bought it for me and then made a set for herself out of Sculpy. I can't wait to see how it turned out.

We left our baby out the whole time too. Actually it was ceramic and the manger and jesus were one piece, I think.

i had never heard of waiting to put out the baby jesus until the other night when my friend (i believe her mother is a methodist minister) said that one year she hid jesus so they could wait until christmas eve. unfortunately she hid him *too* well and it wasn't until the next spring that he was found. hee!
