I'm watching new Law and Order

I am not a fan of the newest Executive ADA. I'm wondering why Rubirosa wasn't promoted -- it actually sticks in my craw a little that there's never been a female Executive ADA. Of course McCoy has been around so so damn long, but I do find it a little distressing that the ADA has been, more often than not, McCoy's female sidekick ( Read more... )

D.,

I hear we have issues with the same Psych major. Elaine can decode this comment for you. We should rage at some point. I have a lil' letter for you, but I have to finish its companion "gift."

I love McCoy. I especially love his early years when he hated or didn't trust police (because of his father). I haven't seen the newest ADA, but I am annoyed it's not a woman. I'm actually not a fan of Rubirosa or the one before her or the one before her. I like the ADA on SVU; I wish she'd guest on the other versions (or maybe she has: I'm not up on all of that business).

Jeopardy? Amazing.

McCoy is indeed highly awesome; I hope we get to see him in the Adam Schiff situation of having to deal with powerful people attempting to influence prosecutions. I'm sure he'd have some choice words for that situation that would never have crossed Schiff's lips.

The last few female ADA's would have made for bad EADA's, though. Rubirosa is still something of a cipher, I think everyone hated Southerlyn (and scuttlebutt claims that Elisabeth Rohm was apparently hard to work with and loathed by the cast & crew). Carmichael (Angie Harmon) would have been a very interesting EADA (I don't understand why she engenders so much hate), Ross (Carey Lowell) would have been awesome, and though Kincaid (Jill Hennessey) was my favorite ADA, she wouldn't have been a very good EADA.

And on the topic of the other ADA's of the L&O family, I really dislike Casey Novak from SVU; I miss Alex Cabot so much.

Admittedly, the last ADA I really, really liked was Robinette. mizunol January 21 2008, 18:05:28 UTC
I'll also admit to having watched very few Rubirosa episodes -- I'm doing a better job of watching new Law and Orders now, but I'm still most knowledgeable about the older seasons.

I think out of all of the female ADAs, Carmichael would have made the best EADA. I think she was too often cast as the conservative foil to McCoy, and in a way that got old fast. I think with different power dynamics that could have been much more interesting.
