I wish I'd come up with this.

Fantastic weekend, so far.

It started on Friday with a whole day off with Rodger and no toddler. We shopped. We hung out. We chatted. We had fun. I am always amazed by just how much I like his company when I get it all to myself for more than a couple of hours at a time.

The thing about the little mermaid is that she wasn't walking on knives for the prince. He never asked any such thing of her.  She was walking on knives for herself, because she wanted what came with them.

Furthermore, what she got from it might have been different from what she thought she wanted, but she still took it with both hands.

ROUS.

Spending time with Ada is making me better at thinking laterally.

Today, Ada only had to ask once for 'song about the girl by Iggy Pop' and I realised at once she was interpreting 'child' as 'girl' in the title of Real WIld Child. I felt very clever.

I asked Rodger to bring home a small wooden sword for our daughter today (kids' theme party this weekend).

She now owns a mighty two-handed battle-axe, a short sword, and a shield with a dragon. She spent the evening chopping gently at people's legs.
I might have thought of getting her her own shield one day, but the axe just wouldn't have occurred ( Read more... )

Over and over again. The alphabet song is OK, but I'm beginning to cringe at the mention of the spider song every time.
