Thanksgiving Travel

Wood Ducks
Sleepy, yet cannot sleep. Will try again in a bit. For now though, I'll note that the sun came out today and I returned to Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden for walkies. Along with many kinds of waterfowl on and around the water, I saw a bunch of wood ducks - nine (9) at one point - feeding up in a Chinese Hackberry tree. Perhaps this is why ( Read more... ) -
Day 2 Sans FB/IG
Without spending time frittering - I say frittering! - my time away on FB/WWF today, I've gotten more stuff done. Since I still want to maintain connections w/folks, I've made my postcards more readily available. Day 1 Sans FB
It's not that I miss it in particular, but it's fascinating how thoughtless clicking on the FB phone icon has become. Several times today I've realized I've done it, only to close the app immediately. It's easy enough to avoid on the laptop. Vernonia Outing
Today's initial plan went to heck. Nasty weather forecast - potential flooding in Rockaway Beach and possible nasty rain and wind along the way - scotched plans for the coastal train ride. Cooking
I quite like cooking, especially when inspired and/or with a good sous-chef (or serving as such myself). It feels so good to get into the zone and not worry/think about anything else, all while creating good, healthy (often, not always) foodstuffs for me and those I care about. Halloween
Watched a fine triple feature of From Beyond (uncensored director cut), The Horror of Party Beach, and The Babadook with a few friends on Halloween. Had more Trick-or-Treat'ers than ever before, but still have some candy left.
Today I baked a cherry pie w/a friend. We used cherries from his tree, harvested and frozen a couple months back. Mmmmm ( Read more... ) -
Weekend
Well, that was quite the weekend! Got up at 3:15am yesterday. Took an early AM flight to OAK for my step-bro’s wedding in Martinez yesterday afternoon. Stayed w/step-mom & step-sis.
