"bemoaning my fate as a loner because i have no tolerance for people my age"
Sadly, I am only 19. And no, I am not wise or mature for my age, but I think you sound pretty down to earth compared with many people here. It's my first year here, I come from a military family, and also hate people my age.
i just read your post on the evergreen community. you should add me. if you need some one to hang out with when you come visit, show you the bars and such, you should let me know.
i saw your post in the "veterans" community, which is unfortunately one of the lamest communities on the eljay. on the other hand, yours is the type of community i'd been waiting for.
anyway, i did some time in a mech unit (3rd Infantry) in germany, and happened to be a part of the spearhead into the republican guard during the first gulf war.
when i rotated back to the states, i eventually ended up as a squad leader in the 505th PIR (3rd Brigade of the jumping junkies).
when i got out, i went on to study psychology and design and made a nice little career out of it up here in NYC. you can read my journal if you want to know more.
i also added you as a friend because you seemed pretty cool. i hope you don't mind.

On that note, welcome to Evergreen.
