Tooth implant update #3: the screw goes in

A week ago, I went back in for the latest phase in my dental implant surgery. This had been originally scheduled for tomorrow, Jan. 17, but they gave me the option to pull it back about a week; I guess a hole opened up in their schedule, and maybe I'd seemed to be recovering well from my October bone graft when they took the sutures out in NovemberRead more... )

The last time I took CoTylenol, Sting stepped out of the television into my living room and we had a nice chat.

Well, I'm not all the way through it yet. We'll see how it goes.

If you need a bone graft, expect two or three weeks of somewhat uncomfortable recovery from that. You'll feel a lot better after the stitches come out. The subsequent stages seem to be less trouble.

Thanks! Some practitioners seem to do this in fewer steps over a shorter period of time, but this guy (and my dentist) express disdain for that. The length of the process also depends on the situation, which tooth it is and the geometry of the bone; sometimes they can put in the bone graft simultaneously with the screw, or go straight to installing the exposed abutment. I seem to be getting the super-long version.
