FEMINAZI IT UP

Feb 06, 2006 15:32

Yesterday at work about 12:30, we're pretty busy, quite randomly the power goes out. It was very annoying because we had to ring people up WITHOUT registers for about half an hour, but then we got to close. Skechers was the only store in Waterford without powers. So we went to Panera. There wasn't much else to do until the power came back on ( Read more... )

I agree with you....
I understand about the whole "sweetie" thing too... ex. in class this guy was passing up some papers, and he said, "Here sweetie..." but not in a way a really older man would have said it... I was slightly taken aback from his tone as well... Maybe I'm not sweet. Maybe I'm a bitch. A lot of the time, it is condenscending.

I think I said "Talk to you later sweetie" on the phone today??? I didn't even realize I did it until now. Even though you told me the other day that you don't have a problem w/ me saying that, it still makes me think...
Remember when you told us that one person's complaint represents like 100 something others that didn't complain? Well, I use that term and other sugar coated pet names at work all the time to my customers. What if they don't like it or they hate me for it or they feel I am degrading them and they just don't speak up? I'm really going to try hard to break that habit. Maybe I'll see some results in the form of extra tippage!

I doubt it because I think it's nice and amiable to say sweetey and dear and things like that. Maybe its different from a guy to a girl but from a girl to a guy its never bothered me.

This is the same argument I was having with Steve. If you or any of my other friends calls me sweetie, it wouldn't offend me cause you know me. If some older guy called me sweetie, I would be irritated. If an older woman called me sweetie, I think that would be nice, but if some girl I didn't know that was our age called me sweetie, i would think that was kind of bitchy. I think it totally depends on who is saying it to me, and I guess my point is, that I can't see any guy in any work environment calling someone sweetie in a non-condescending way. And the woman who sued him for sexual harrassment must have felt the same way, because I really wouldn't get offended if just any person called me sweetie. I like when you do :)
