An old high school friend of mine was at that same fair. He posted pictures of fried margarita. I think bread was involved, which I feel is kind of like cheating. He doesn't have children, but I think I'll warn him to stay away from the petting zoo next time.

I went to the Florida State Fair when I was seven or eight. Literally all I remember is that as it was closing, we stopped at an Olive Garden booth and got cheese soup (ugh) and salad, because it was all they had left. As we were standing around eating, some teenagers rode by on skateboards and one of them actually reached into the bowl of salad one of the other girls was holding and stole her sole cherry tomato. He dropped it trying to pop it in his mouth, so then he and his skateboarding friends turned around and started running it over, over and over, smashing it into the sidewalk while the girl watched and cried. Good times. (The adult with us never even noticed.)

I remember so little that I had to fall back on Wikipedia. All it mentions is chocolate-covered bacon. Oh, Florida.
