"...and that's what it's all about."

One of life's small pleasures is explaining to someone who has never heard of it before how to dance the Hokey Pokey. "Well, you see, it's pretty simple. First you put your right foot in ( Read more... )

In all seriousness, I don't think it would even occur to me to use my shirt to mop up a spill. I'd have stared blankly until someone got a towel or something while this person's board game was busy getting ruined. All I can think is how you would have had to play the rest of Board Game Night with soda on your shirt. Just thinking about cold soda on my shirt, trying to rub against my stomach, is making me sit back in my seat involuntarily. Get that ghostly cold soda t-shirt away from my stomach.

Congratulations on being an again-uncle!

For the good of the board game, the best thing to do would probably be to pick up the board by its corners and let the drink drip off, but that would mean moving the pieces(!) and sacrificing the game in progress(!). It took an hour's worth of slow deliberation and maneuvering to arrive at this exact arrangement of pieces, so when it comes time for immediate action, it's easier to resign yourself to the horror of a ruined board and attempt to make ineffectual repairs later. I mean, except if you're me and wearing a shirt you don't like. But even then, it still feels like this.

Thanks! I think that the more people I have a direct influence over, the cooler this planet is going to be.

This made me smile. Congrats (:

"I knew I was a cool person when someone spilled a can of soda onto the board game and, with the snap judgment of an electric Solomon, I untucked my shirt and started mopping up the spill with it." Hahaha awesome.

*Gets carried around the neighborhood on people's shoulders, waving and championing my arms* (:

I make my best decisions on impulse. The longer I think about it, the worse I do. Of course, the tougher, slower decisions usually have negative consequences on both sides. But whenever you can make a decision quickly, you should feel good about it.

Haha, that is kind of weird, but I'm sure that you would make a fantastic niece.

I just lack cool relatives, is all. And you always talk about your nephew. You'd make a cool cousin, too. :P

Well, thank you. I think it's one of life's great tragedies that we don't get to pick who we grow up with.

Thank you for the vote of confidence. All I know is that somebody has to be able to make the tough choices.

It's good to know I'm not the only one that tucks their shirt in. I hope it wasn't your favorite and I hope it wasn't grape soda.

Oliver seems like a cutie and we should all tell our secrets to him, knowing full well they should be guarded for at least a little while.

Board game groups are full of shirt-tucking, military-time-keeping, good-hearted people.

I think Oliver would love that. Even though he's still a little kid, he loves responsibility and being depended on and trusted. Besides, the only way to make someone trustworthy is to trust them. I'm sure Oliver will get the hang of it eventually.
