The Happiest Place on Earth

At ¥5,000, it has to be the most expensive cab ride I have ever taken for a 20-minute journey! That would be approximately S$65, enough for me to ride from Changi to Tuas and back and still have some spare change! But with two big luggages and an active kid in tow, that’s the best alternative we had then.

It was drizzling when we departed for Disney, in fact we never got to see Mr Sun for the rest of the day! Upon arrival at Hilton Tokyo Bay, we wasted no time in visiting the Happiest Place on Earth! We bought a 3-day pass whereby we spent the first day at DisneySea and the remaining two days in DisneyLand.

We preferred DisneyLand as it is catered more for younger kids while DisneySea for teenagers and above (saved for Mermaid Lagoon). We were very lucky to have allocated tickets (through a balloting system) to view the “Cinderella's Royal Coronation” (a special show Disney put up in conjunction with their current theme on princesses), not once but twice! However the second time we were unable to view the wonderful show due to inclement weather as it was staged outdoor. In addition, there was also the "Cinderellabration: Lights of Romance", which is an entertainment, music and illumination programme also staged in front of the Cinderella castle.

Despite having light showers for two out of three days, we fulfilled about 90% of what we planned to do (ie covering shows, parades and photo taking with the various characters) at both the theme parks. Nicole had a field trip nevertheless, even though she wasn’t feeling well initially (having diarrhoea on the first day at Disney) and slept throughout the second day waking up only for shows and certain rides.

We only did one major activity on the fourth day (at Maihama, the place where DisneyLand and DisneySea are located) which was shopping at Bon Voyage before taking off for Hokkaido. Bon Voyage is a huge shop (located next to JR Maihama Station) offering a rich selection of both the Disneyland and DisneySea merchandise. We spent a good 2 hours combing the shop for gifts for ourselves and loved ones alike. Both Nicole and I were very happy and satisfied, but not too sure about hubby when he receives the visa bills.
