Isn’t it not simple sugar but Rakugan or Wa-sanbon like some flavored sugar? If so, I don’t know how much I miss those sugars, they are my favorite Japanese sweets. I love your reports and pictures from Tokyo, I am terrible homesick now since I move into Toronto last October. Thank you for sharing them.
What a shame I didn't knew. I didn't try it. I should have known it might have been better than 'normal' sugar. I can imagine you must really miss Tokyo, I'm starting to feel quite at home here, going to the supermarket on my bycicle. But traffic is very dangerous: driving on the left side of the road, sometimes on the pavement and in these small busy streets... I'm not really at ease. :)
I am glad you enjoy staying Japan. It is same to me about traffics, I gave up driving in Toronto...I don't think I can keep myself in right side of the road so it is too danger to drive.
You should try some Japanese sweets while you stay it Tokyo. It is time to eat Hina-mathuri sweets like Sakura-Mochi, Doumyouji, Hina-Arare (this is my favorite one) and drink Shiro-sake. I also recommend you to look at Hina-ningyo (Dolls for Hina-Matsuri) or Ichimathu-ningyo (Ichimatsu Doll). Unfortunately I had to leave mine in Japan because they were too heave and too fragile to send to Toronto. They are gathered Japanese beauty of form and art.
