“Kiss me.”
The room is suddenly silent, and Heechul feels several pairs of eyes on him, but he continues looking at Siwon, who stares back in a mix of shock and indignation.
“What?” he asks, trying to smile dismissively, because he hopes Heechul is joking, even though this is not funny-not with what has already happened between them, even less considering the fact that they are in the waiting room, getting ready for another performance of Neorago. Hankyung is right there, for God’s sake, and Leeteuk has already scorned them all for trying to give him a heart attack almost every time they’ve gone on stage since last month.
Heechul sends a nonchalant glance at his band mates, daring anyone to interfere, though his eyes avoid reaching Hankyung. Donghae shrugs and continue speaking to Eunhyuk about ways to prevent fail, Kyuhyun rolls his eyes as if this was nothing new and gets back to talking to Sungmin and Yesung, and Ryeowook pretends to fiddle with his glasses while observing Hankyung from the corner of his eye, worried. Leeteuk continues staring at Heechul with alarm, and Kangin glares warningly at the latter, putting a comforting hand on their leader’s shoulder. He whispers something and Leeteuk nods weakly, sighing. Heechul watches as the couple tries to engage Hankyung in a conversation, but the Chinese is distant and Heechul knows that he feels his eyes on him. He averts his gaze before their eyes can lock, and it is Siwon’s face that he sees now, still confused.
“What happened, Heechul?” Siwon asks softly, no formalities attached, and Heechul almost feels sorry for trying to get him involved in this. Except that Siwon is already involved, somehow, and maybe that’s exactly why Heechul turned to him.
“Nothing,” Heechul answers with a meaningless smile, touching Siwon’s arm in a way that could be for reassurance, but it’s just for the show. For the twitch in Hankyung’s smile-which falters and dies while he talks to Leeteuk and Kangin. Heechul smirks, then, and gets closer to Siwon, who probably interprets it as Heechul’s way to prevent the others from hearing what he says next. In a way, he’s right. “I know we can’t kiss now, on TV. It’s much more complicated than doing it during a concert. And I know you and Sungmin are still a little uncomfortable with me after… those times.”
There’s a very subtle apology in Heechul’s words and voice. Siwon nods, but he still doesn’t understand where this is going-nothing new when it comes to Heechul, really. Thus he listens as Heechul explains the rest through whispers and smirks and bitter smiles, and Siwon feels slightly better after hearing what Heechul really wants to do. He just hopes this won’t become a disaster, and that Hankyung will not want to kill them. Again.

Heechul waits while the other Super Junior members, except for Kibum, start singing and dancing to Neorago. Hankyung’s beginning makes his heart ache as usual, and Heechul longs for the Chinese to tell him, it’s you, it’s you, it’s only you. Leeteuk has lost his concentration, if the way his eyes dart around the stage while he sings is anything to go by, and he doesn’t smile nor thrust his hips like he did last time. Heechul doesn’t feel guilty; he just wishes their leader would worry less about things. Kyuhyun sings as well as always, Eunhyuk does that provocative chest pump again, Sungmin uses dramatic hand gestures and Ryeowook smiles sweetly. Then it’s Hankyung singing once more, finishing his part with “I’ll only look at you,” which makes Heechul want to punch him and call him a liar.
Soon it’s time for him to go on stage as well. He pauses right behind Hankyung before the eleven of them part in two groups so that he can walk further and sing, for me, it’s you, it’s you. The rest of the song flows in a blur and he’s barely conscious of not dancing well and Yesung falling on his knees while pouring his heart out. Then, he’s in the middle again, with Hankyung and Siwon in front of him, so close-still not close enough. Heechul sings again, the same thing that Hankyung sings in the beginning, it’s you, but Hankyung doesn’t meet his gaze, he never does. Heechul blinks, sings again, moves his head to the other side-and Siwon is looking at him, lips parted, so convincingly eager and tempting. Heechul leans in, their noses almost touch and he droops his eyelids, knowing he looks like all he wants is this-but he stops there.

They are all smiles when 2PM wins the award, and Super Junior congratulates them before heading backstage. They might be frustrated, yes, but they have received many awards already. 2009 is definitely their year, thus conversation soon starts and their room is filled with voices and laughter, though nobody seems willing to talk about that almost kiss yet. When Leeteuk looks ready to say something about it, Hankyung grabs Heechul by the arm and takes him outside before anybody can do so much as gasp in surprise, and Siwon is quick to step in and try to explain everything to their leader, who looks bewildered and stressed and doesn’t really want to hear it.
Heechul lets himself be dragged around as Hankyung looks for a place that is not occupied by other musicians, hair dressers, managers or staff in general. Heechul almost tells him that this is no use and they should wait until they got home, but Hankyung doesn’t look like he would listen. Plus, Heechul likes the half angry, half determined look on Hankyung’s face, the possessive strength with which he grips his arm and continues walking until he finds somewhere that pleases him.
It’s a tiny bathroom and Hankyung drags Heechul inside without bothering to look around and check if anyone could see them, which was very likely to happen. Later, they can come up with some crazy excuse for this, Heechul certainly has the ability for that, but now Hankyung is more worried about locking the door and pulling Heechul against him so that they can crush their mouths together. The kiss is angry, hard, passionate, Heechul’s lips are burning when they part and it feels good. Hankyung rests his forehead against Heechul’s and closes his eyes, trying to cool off, but Heechul grabs a handful of his hair and pulls him in for another kiss, as passionate as the first one.
Hankyung lifts him up and presses him against the wall, Heechul feels his bones hurt mildly but he doesn’t care, not when Hankyung is so fierce, almost feverish in the way he claims his mouth and grips at his waist. There are gasps through bites, caressing tongues and wandering fingers as Hankyung breathes, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry,” but Heechul shuts him up with more kisses. He can’t bear the apologies, he doesn’t want any explanations. He doesn’t know if he has forgiven Hankyung, because the betrayal still burns in his chest as much as the love and the lust that burn in his body right now. The hurt and the anger are as real as his crave for Hankyung, who he needs and doesn’t want to let go.
“I should never speak to you again,” Heechul mumbles, but his hands are caressing Hankyung’s neck and face as they look at each other. “I shouldn’t let you touch me, or touch you, or even look at you,” he keeps their gazes locked and moves his hips, grinning faintly when Hankyung’s breathe hitches and he rocks back, fighting not to lose eye contact due to the sensations awakening and spreading through his body.
But I need you, is what Heechul declares through kisses and caresses and hips that move of their own accord, for Hankyung is touching him and fuck, they’d better stop now or Heechul might scar everybody for life with how much he’s not willing to be quiet for this.
“Geng,” he calls, trying to stop the other from biting down on his neck, though all Heechul really wants to do is gasp and moan and surrender to the hand massaging him. He feels strange and stupid, since it’s usually Hankyung who cares and tries to prevent them from causing a scandal, but Heechul can’t really trust himself at the moment.
The decision is taken out of their hands, though, as somebody else calls from the corridor.
“Is anyone there? I really need to pee!”
“Oh shit,” Hankyung grumbles, recognizing the voice as belonging to one of the SHINee boys. He lets go of Heechul, albeit reluctantly, and tries to think of a way to hide their current state. Heechul’s shirt is long but tight on the hips, and Hankyung’s doesn’t have enough buttons. Worse still, they are both wearing mainly white, Hankyung’s hair is ruined and Heechul’s mouth is slightly bruised.
“This is what happens when we’re not patient,” Heechul provokes, looking at the mirror as he fixes his hair and looks for marks that Hankyung might have left on his neck. The Chinese doesn’t seem to have noticed, but Heechul’s nails did leave a reddish trail just below his right ear, and Heechul is not about to tell him that.
Instead of giving a retort for the bantering, Hankyung encircles his waist from behind and buries his face in Heechul’s hair, saying something in Chinese but otherwise remaining still.
Heechul looks at him through the mirror, sees everything in those eyes-love, regret, trust, need, fear-and covers Hankyung’s hands with his own. “You’re an idiot,” he says, both fondly and accusingly, moving his head back so that he can look directly into Hankyung’s eyes. The scene on stage flashes in his mind-him and Siwon looking at each other-and Heechul knows that he has hurt Hankyung, that he’s probably going to hurt him even more, because maybe then he can forget about his own pain. And Hankyung understands-this is something between the two of them, they would only suffer even more if they tried to remain apart, and they shouldn’t ever let anyone get in the way.
Hankyung kisses Heechul when the person outside complains about having to wait, but they ignore him for a while longer. “We’re so fucked up,” the Chinese mutters, and Heechul is aware that he’s talking about both their relationship and their current predicament. He nods, smiles, presses his lips to Hankyung’s once more and remains in his arms when they open the door.
“I have no regrets, I chose you, that’s right, it’s you,” Heechul sings softly as they walk back to their dressing room, and it’s awkward because Hankyung is still hugging him from behind, but it’s also nice and fun and some people look strangely at them, but he doesn’t care. “Whatever anyone, anyone says, it doesn’t matter to me,” and he smirks, because the lyrics of Neorago couldn’t be more fitting.
Hankyung sings the rest of the chorus in his ear and Heechul’s smirk widens, for they have reached their band mates again and there are curious, surprised, wondering, content eyes staring at them. There are comments and questions and reassurances, Siwon’s relieved smile and Kangin’s pat on Hankyung’s shoulder, and so many other little gestures-Heechul feels that everything is like it should be, not perfect, not always good, not exactly like he had expected it to be. But he still has Hankyung, his flaws and his love, and that’s what makes Heechul almost kiss him on stage the following day.

Extra notes: Heechul really did the same to Hankyung on
their following performance of It’s You. LOL I’ll go crazy if he keeps this up.
