Instant Messenger

You know, it occurs to me that I probably wouldn't even be married if it weren't for instant messenger. I'm not nearly as witty and talkative in person as I can be online. I just can't think of funny things to say as easily at the speed of speech as I can at the speed of typing.

I don't know if I agree with that. You always seemed to be able to hold your own in our group.
When it comes to dating, most of us have trouble talking to women period, so in that respect, you're not alone ;-)

Well, considering that IM was really the only form of online communication at the time, it makes sense. And you are pretty witty online... but regardless... I did not marry you for your IMing skills or ability to have online conversations with me ;) Basically, I just married you for your body. ;)

You're very witty and talkative in real life.

Me too. I'm much more fluent with language typing than talking. I also think it is about speed. I need the time to get organized, and it's much easier on IM, when I can take a few moments to respond to something without looking crazy, as one would in conversation.

That's totally me as well. I met my girlfriend on IRC 9 years ago, and we chatted there for 2 or 3 months before the first time we met up in real life. I'm usually fine talking to people in real life, if they're people I already know and trust, but if I'm meeting someone totally new then I'll be totally awkward and quickly run out of things to say. That's what I love about all these new websites like Livejournal, Facebook, etc., you get a chance to find out what a new person is all about before seeing them in person.
