I hate making non-poetry posts.....

But, something I need to remind members of this slowly growing community..

I can't do this alone!

If you are interested in being able to post, I have updated the information page with more..well...information! on how to do so.

Email me at matt.williams@cfu.net if you think this applies to you ( Read more... )

i dropped an email, but neglected to post my ideas for the community. I think the focus should maintain the same level of direction towards contemporary authors, and I think it's a good idea to keep the threads locked, allowing exclusive privileges to individuals who demonstrate an ability to refrain from "bad teen poetry" and the like.

I don't know what my comments actually contributed. I think these are all concepts originally intended by the outline of the community, but perhaps the limits on the people allowed to post should be opened up slightly (to designated individuals). I've only see a few people post here, so perhaps those are the people who should be able to start threads?

Reply and let me know what you think.
-thanks :)

Hey, just got your email.

I agree, with one reservation, but in that I think I have already found a solution. The problem my mind was having was the idea of having 10-11 people post 2 poems every day. With that much going on, the community would not have time to focus on one poem or so a day, and not to mention it would flood people's friends pages with potentially annoying amounts of poetry.

But I think I can set it where all people who have posting access will enter into a moderation system. That way I can somewhat control the flow of poetry.

I have no problem having multiple people with posting access, as long as they all understand what is going on, and don't try to post something other than poetry.

btw, I granted you posting access. Anyone else who wants it, ask :)

You know, we have a similar community up at contempoems, formerly contempoetry, and that's been active for half a year or so, with open posting...no problems with bad teen poetry at all. I would suggest just opening the posting to all members until something goes wrong. But then you'd be in competition with contempoems so maybe not. Maybe you should just join us as well, for more more more poetry.

I did notice that you resurrected a new form of the old contempoetry community after this community was created. Oddly, after you joined this community too...

I am not keen on competition as I see this community accomplishing something totally different than what contempoems does. Besides, I am rather fine with keeping the numbers of this community small.

Just wondering if leaving Lorine Niedecker out of the interests list was intentional or not.

I just joined and am very excited!
