Fanwork Guide: Fanart

Aug 06, 2010 23:33

Only a single post per post 24 hour period is permitted. If you post at 2:58 AM today, you cannot post again until 2:58 AM tomorrow; however, you are free to update the post you posted today.

All fanworks require headers. Fanarts are the focus of this article. Posting fanart is reserved for art of your own creation. Use the Weekly Rec Post to recommend other artists' work. Use the required header code provided below the for your fanarts. All full-sized fanarts must be placed beneath a lj-cut. Failure to use the headers or include the lj-cut will result in deletion.

If your characters span multiple universes you are required to indicate to which universe your characters belong.

For commissioned fanart you are required to state the acceptable use terms for your art. It can be as simple as "Credit the author and owner." or more detailed like a Creative Commons license.

Here is a tutorial if you need further assistance in posting to spock_uhura. This is an example of a fanart using a lj-cut, and this is an example of a fanart using a small-sized preview and an external link.

We have a collection at Archive of Our Own (AO3). Feel free to archive your work there. AO3 is still in beta, so if you are not a member, request an account. The wait time is usually 24 - 48 hours.
