I'd just like to say that Son of Rambow was one of the best movies I've seen in awhile. Go see it!!!

And, I had a fantastic weekend!  Shame I have to write a paper defending libertarianism now. 

Saw Ron Karenga speak at an event in South Los Angeles this morning. For those of you who don't know who he is, Ron Karenga has been dubbed the "Creator of Kwanzaa" and founded a group called the US Organization that played a very important role in the black liberation movement of the 1960s (a particular subject of interest since watching this film ( Read more... )

I've been exposed to a lot of urban theory lately through lectures, my own (fledgling) research project, and random BBC documentaries. Urban theorists, I've learned, gain credibility through their ability to make up new words pertaining to city growth. Making up words! Maybe I do have a future in academia after all!

A Teaching Assistant ran over my foot with her mobility scooter this morning. Two minutes later, she's running around the classroom. In heels. What?

Just interviewed at the Institute for Transportation Studies. Don't know if I'll get the job, but I would appreciate getting to interact with Urban Planning professors and grad students. We'll see.
