Let's say one morning you were telling your boyfriend about a complex dream you had about Star Trek: The Next Generation, and he mentioned that he hadn't really seen any episodes of the show. Which 2 or 3 episodes do you get immediately from Netflix to rectify this situation ( Read more... )

THIS IS TOO HARD.

I would however like to register a negative vote for Sub Rosa.

No, TNG is NOT BSG, but it's awesome in its own cheesy Ramada Inn in Space kind of way.

I'd go for the Borg arc. I watched a little TNG here and there but I wasn't officially sucked in until I watched the two-partner with Picard getting turned into Locutus.

I also love Inner Light, the time loop one (it's so DARK for TNG!), maybe Ensign Ro.And for cracky, you can't beat a Lwaxana ep.

I would not recommend anything featuring Wesley, Troi or any Klingon sagas (is it just me who finds the Klingon drama incredibly dull?).

Ohhh Ensign Ro. How was she so awesome? That reminds me, I still need to watch the DS9 episodes where she shows up. (I didn't dream that, right? It did happen?)

I can't remember if she was on DS9 or not. I still need to watch past S2.

How lucky is Michelle Forbes? She's been on TNG, BSG, True Blood, Homicide and Lost. I wish I could be her when I grow up. ;)

The one where the ship blows up in the time loop! I love that one! What was it called?

But maybe get him one of everything? A lot of people like the Borg one...? Also, the Inner Light is classic scifi. Everyone should watch it.

Cause and Effect! Which is actually what my dream was about: I'd found (on Etsy?!) a novelization of the episode from Data's point of view, which managed to perfectly capture an android's perceptions. lulllz wtf. I hadn't even been thinking about TNG any time recently!

The one where we find out Data can have sex.

I suppose you ought to include some cheesy Holodeck thing, as they "went" there a lot. I'd skip Q, cuz I thought that was crap, and maybe hold off on the Borg until you've jumped him in. I suspect it works better once you know (and maybe care about) Picard.

I haven't seen any of them since they were on TV the first time, though, so what do I know.

Heee, I have a feeling 'through a filter of 20 year memories' may be the best way to experience that show. Ah, the holodeck, so broken all the time!
