I am HOME and thrilled about it. The first world, guys. All potable water and non-malarial mosquitos. Although I caught some kind of bleurghy cold on the flight back and spent the first week sneezing like crazy and waking up at 4am because jet lag is a party. But things are better now. Sorry for the loss of your great uncle. He sounds wonderful.

I can never sleep on planes. I hate it. Always end up feeling like a zombie after long haul.

I hate/am so jealous of everyone who has the amazing ability to sleep on planes, while I grow ever more tired and bored. How do they do it?

Last year I flew back from Chicago to Paris, and my seatmate, a stranger, said hello when I sat down, then put his head against the window and fell asleep. FOR EIGHT HOURS. So much jealous rage. Especially since this was on a plane which didn't have a nifty tv set up, and I would much rather watch brainless tv/film in the middle of the night than try to read by a tiny seat light. /firstworldproblems

I'm glad you're home, for your sake! It did not sound like a fun trip. (At first I thought it was your honeymoon! Are you going to do that?) How was the sleeping pod thing in the Tokyo airport? It's such a great idea, I really don't understand why they're not in every airports.

Yeah, we're hopefully doing a honeymoon next month.... back in SE Asia because we already have the tickets! Oh lord, those long flights. Kind of ridiculous to be heading back, but hopefully fun too??

sorry to hear about your great uncle. he sounds like the best sort of stand in for a grandparent. i hope to be just like him someday.
