Oh for craps sake. Nothing personal, but why does everyone always think I'm in MICRObiology. It's Molly MOLECULAR for crying out loud . . . And no more applied bio anyway. Back to my roots. Back to osteology.
And I really don't like Florida much.
Whoa. I just read this over and it sounds very very bitchy. I'm sorry babe; I think I need a latte and a foot rub or something. Thank you for your recommendation :) *kiss* Forgive?
Damn, it DOES sound bitchy! LOL. Just messing with you. I'd get pissed, too, if someone screwed up my major.
I only said Microbiology because my friend was a Micro student there and I remember hearing it was a top notch place. But now he's at UCLA so I'm sure its probably 10x better.
And Florida doesn't suck at all, you've just been in dreary ol' Toronto too long. Hey, wait! Do you know who the girl in my icon is?
I really really liked Boston the couple of times that I've been. And it's close to my little sister and my Dad . . . names of schools please? Umm, besides Harvard?
Ooh, I loove some Boston. Best big city in America. I have so many good memories of there *sigh*. And talk about college-heaven, lol. My friends up in Boston went to Wellesley, BU, Harvard, Brandeis, and MIT. But you know, thinking about it, I'm not sure if any of them is known for a molecular biology program.
ps. feel better. summer school is almost over and you'll have at least a couple of weeks to do nothing before you have to go back. You can beat to your heart's content on your drums and spend all the time in the world with the boy. But for now, just relax via park/yoga/baths... and it'll all be ok. :)
Thanks hon. That's the plan! Well, I won't be going to school in the Fall though! But I am TOTALLY just trying to chill and keep it together until this dumb course is over. The final's in 10 days.
And the pathology. Nutshell: did my undergrad in osteology (through Anthropology department), wanted to do osteopathology, took a job in the university bone research lab, ended up having a mostly molecular biology project, ended up as molecular biologist, got job in faculty of Medicine starting this fall doing pure molecular research, realized (via wake-up call from my Dad) that I had really strayed from my intent.
And I'm not happy about it. Hence, paleopathology because it's through the Anthro department, and that's where I need to be. SO SO tired of the applied bio world.
I say wow.. b/c my first time in college I doubled majored in Anthro/Bio... I specialised in human osteo... spent too much time in the forensics lab with DNA and skeletons.... looked all over the world at graduate schools... and then went back for a second degree in journalism.
So yeah, if you're serious about going back to it, I've got most of the materials and contacts around here somewhere.
That is more or less EXACTLY what I'm doing. Trippy.
Here's something you can appreciate then. Possibly the most important detail I remember from 3rd year skeletal bio is that "Subclavian Groove" would be a fantastic name for a band :)
"You have to pinch the flies just right so their butts burst and their guts pop out like a completely non-festive piniata..."
That's...a funny line :)
We may not have a nice music live music scene, but us musicians down here always love to find new people to jam with :) I'm a music student and therefore i know nothing about our science department At UMD, but i'm sure their alright. Everyone i know that graduated from it got good enough jobs...like in landscaping...hehe jk!

Tufts has one of the few veterinary medicine schools in the country; I think they may have a pretty solid molecular bio program.
Most of what I know about all these schools is limited to their fencing teams.

Actually, I think Cincinnati's program is decent, and I belie OSU has a very competitive department in that area. I would have to check more.
Also, that fly ovary business sounds like an exercise in causing yourself nightmares.

Now I have only heard that they have a good program for this, and you know how that goes.
