(giddy rant) i got the grant for the summer!!! i got the letter in the mail today!!! i am now officially a recipient of the Stanley and Mary Johnson Student Summer Research Grant, which means they're giving me $3,300 for my trip to Uganda this summer!!! Which means I have almost all the money that I need!!! !!!!!! (/giddy rant)

hopefully in the next few days, i'll be posting a giddy rant about how i got my grant for the summer. but i haven't actually gotten it, so i'm not posting it right now. in fact, i'm actually just sort of sitting on pins and needles and waiting to hear.
but, in other and all areas of my life, suffice it to say that i am a fairly happy camper!

if you live in southern california, i have two things for you to do today. the first is to step outside, find the nearest orange tree, and breathe in deeply. they're blossoming! the second is to find the nearest kumquat tree, find the orangest kumquat, pop the whole thing in your mouth, and bite down! it may be february, but springtime is here in
