Teen is now in college...and finished her first week.  I so wish she would get her liscense so we would not have to drive 30 miles roundtrip to take her or get her. Actually, somedays it fits my schedule perfectly.  Itold her that she needs to start asking people where they live so that she can start to carpool, and we will pay for gas.  I HATE  ( Read more... )

If she's in college, stop ferrying her around. Give her a copy of the bus schedule and tell her she's a grownup and needs to be responsible for her own schedule. (She'll be interested in getting a license pretty damn quick, I'm guessing.)

Plus, you'll have the added bonus of her not having a way to go see the girlfriend, which will mean that the girlfriend will lose interest. Win-win, all 'round.

And she can pack her own lunch or go hungry.

I really do not like that girlfriend. Sounds like she has no respect for your boundaries. Hey, come along with your outing or not, but decide at a decent time.

College already? Wow!

UI'd give her a bus shedule if there we had buses that get you from here to there. We live in a county with no buses to speak of. We have a bus in town that will only take you around town. Unfortunately, school is about 15 miles away in another town. she really has to find someone that lives near here and get a ride. BUT with school only being a week in, she hasn't dfound anyone yet.

Oh, I never take her to girlfriend's house...she wants to get there, she has to find her own ride. That she manages to do.

Yeah, they always find a way if it's important to them! Sounds like the bus service where we are, which has only very slowly improved over the 30 years we've been living here.... out in the country, there's one bus an hour. It's why we wound up getting our kids cars when they were teenagers. You can spend your life driving them around, but we were lucky to be in a position to buy them cars.... even secondhand.
