Add to that the death this morning of Prince Rainier of Monaco (husband to the late Grace Kelly, aka Princess Grace) and the Pope (I'm not judging these by value, just notoriety), and it has been a deadly year for some very prominent names. Haven't seen anything like this since 2000 - 2001 when Walter Matthau passed away in June 2000, followed by a string of major names, then ending with Jack Lemmon's death in June 2001.
