Well, the phrase "memento mori" means something like "remember thy death" or "remember you are mortal" in latin, a reminder that life is short, that we are fragile, and that time's a' wastin. Memento -> Momento fairly easily, and since I'm somebody who incessantly ruminates on the events of his life, it made a certain amount of sense. Also, I misspelt it.

And lastly, Maury is aurally similar to Mori, and turns the phrase into something that sounds like a name. Maury also sounds like the name of some salesman from the forties, and I like fedoras.
