We had some family portraits done today. The only one missing is my sister's husband. He could not make it this weekend. Eventually, maybe, we will have a family portait with all the guys in it. Sheesh.
I wasn't going to say this on facebook where I might offend your relatives, and keep in mind that I have a bit of an anti-posed-studio-portrait bias, but that "Just the grandkids" pic makes me laugh and laugh in a campy, Awkward Family Photos way. Just that the photographer set them up like that, with the little ones sitting on their backs, is so weirdly uncomfortable looking and like cliche of "That kind of photography". I think I would hang that one half to show all the grandkids being cute and half as a joke. They're so symmetrical and color-coded they look like one of thoseStar Search dance teams waiting for the judges' answer!
Well, actually more relatives will see it here! Heh. I totally get your perspective but we are a campy, cheesy kind of family and my parents love formal posed portraits to mark time. We have only done these once before and it was at my parents' house outside and was much less formal (and a LOT more expensive!) we are all terrible about taking candid shots when we are all together so this feels necessary. In that picture the only kid truly uncomfortable and not really laughing for this pic is Maria. Sebastian is really heavy!!!
Was about to comment on a newer post of yours but we had drama at bedtime so I had to help out this evening. I just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you and hope that Zoey heals quickly. It has to be so stressful to see her in so much pain without much medical help. Is she disappointed about the upcoming meet?
On another note, I love huge family studio pictures. Sure I love more casual shots too, but there is something about squeezing everyone together in the picture studio that I love. That picture of Lucy is awesome!
