Five days! We’ve been fortunate that our power hasn’t gone out too many times over the years. The generator was a whim, a “just in case,” because it is nice to be warm and not have food spoil!
The stations here have been pushing those expensive, whole-house, automatic generators a lot lately; my sister-in-law’s condo came with one. I’d have liked one of those for convenience, but they are very expensive.
Ooh, I didn’t know of the Tesla Wonderwall! No, this would be a large, propane or natural gas powered affair on a slab outside the home. Add another few grand for installation fees: concrete base, wiring, gas hookup, etc…
My sister-in-law’s came with the condo. Her former home had a clunky, diesel affair that ran poorly, if at all.
We had similar weather but between one to two inches of much needed rain. The power only flicked on and off once around 4:00pm. Tom has a small generator in case power ever does go out during any storm. Like you, we wish we had a Generac type backup but they're so expensive.

5 days of that by now (in two separate batches) .. strangest year here yet!
I just prefer being warm, and not needing to discard the milk...
