I wrote in December that mice were nesting in my generator shed, and on the machine itself. I looked up natural deterrents and ended up buying flaked red pepper to spread around in the enclosure.

As we’re expecting some severe weather next week I went to give the generator a test run today. Heh, imagine my surprise when I opened the shed…

At least they left the machine alone, and it runs just fine.

As far as natural deterrents are concerned, have you considered getting a cat?

A good thought, but a cat isn’t feasible as she’d have to be left outside among bigger predators, and feline leukemia is endemic here.
